Meet Clinical Psychologist Carolyn Scholten

Carolyn Scholten

Clinical Psychologist

Originally from Sydney, I moved to the Coffs Coast with my husband in 2007. We met in the beautiful alpine region of NSW, where I developed an appreciation for living in a country community. It is a privilege to be able to live and work in regional Australia, be adopted by two cats and be entertained by a small flock of chooks.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I am highly motivated to help people overcome the challenges of mental health that are affecting their day to day lives. My ethos is to always use an ethically grounded, versatile approach to therapy that is tailored to the specific needs of the individual.

What is a quote that really resonates with you?
Make the most of every day.

What book have you read more than once?
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

I was given a beautifully illustrated copy by my older brother when I was 8 years old. For a number of years, I read it every year in the lead up to Christmas. (Fun fact: When I lived in England, I knew the great great grandson of Charles Dickens!)

What makes you happy?
Every day – being in nature. Our natural world is a gift freely given for all of us to enjoy.

When I can – travelling! Visiting new places, meeting new people and experiencing new things.
